What are the Different Roles in Network Builder?

Hex Operator
An entity (person or business) that owns a Hex NFT. The Hex NFT grants them the right to operate and grow network activity within that Hex and to become eligible for rewards, subject to platform rules and performance requirements.

Lead Operator
An experienced Hex Operator who may share guidance, insights, or best practices with other Hex Operators. Lead Operators do not have authority over other participants.

Agent
A delegate appointed by a Hex Operator to assist with on-the-ground activities such as marketing, subscriber outreach, or identifying Hosts for network expansion. Agents often do this in exchange for a revenue share. Any revenue sharing depends on agreements between the Agent and the Hex Operator.

If a Hex is sold to a new Hex Operator, all previous Agent-to-Hex Operator agreements are carried over.

Host
A participant who applies to host AirNodes at a physical location. Hosts do not need to participate in Hex auctions.

Affiliate
An Affiliate helps grow the World Mobile network by referring new subscribers through referral links or codes. Anyone can become an Affiliate through Refer and Earn and begin earning referral rewards under that program’s rules. If an Affiliate later purchases a Hex NFT and becomes a Hex Operator, previously referred subscribers can count toward Network Builder subscriber targets. Hex Operators also follow an advanced affiliate pathway within Network Builder, including higher referral rewards and the ability to apply for custom referral codes.
