Introduction

The World Mobile Token Docs cover information such as frequently asked questions, nodes, our vault and World Mobile Token.

First Steps

  • New to WMTx: watch our 2-minute explainer video below, which covers the basics of our project.

  • Safety first: please review our Safety and Security information below.

  • Official channels: always check that you are receiving updates from and sourcing information via our official channels.

  • Support: please review our guide on how to create a support ticket.

Safety and Security

These guides are not an exhaustive list of security precautions. Please exercise extreme caution when sending funds and storing your credentials.

  • Only engage with our official websites and social channels. These are listed below.

  • All transaction information will be provided from inside your secure Vault - consider any request for payment from outside your Vault a scam.

  • Store your wallet recovery phrases securely and don't share them.

World Mobile in a nutshell

Imagine what will happen when more than 3 billion people who are unconnected get connected. They will be making calls, watching videos, playing games and using mobile wallets to send money to each other. Each person will be using all these services multiple times per day. Every time they do, they will generate transactions and every transaction will generate a reward – WMTx.

On the World Mobile network, customers will connect to and transmit data through our various types of AirNodes. Transactions on the network will be processed on-chain by EarthNodes. EarthNode Operators around the world help by processing network transactions and securing transactions, and they are rewarded with WMTx.

When mainnet is live, any WMTx holder will be able to stake to an EarthNode Operator of their choice and share these rewards.

Imagine the rewards from every single transaction on the World Mobile network being sent directly back to EarthNode Operators and those staking WMTx with them. That's the beauty of the sharing economy.

World Mobile Token is the ultimate utility token for the world's first mobile network built on the blockchain.

What is World Mobile Token (WMTx)

World Mobile Token (WMTx) is the utility token that powers the sharing economy of World Mobile's global mobile network. All transactions generated on the network, including calls, data usage and wallet transactions, will be paid out in WMTx to node operators and those staking WMTx.

Transactions on the network are generated when people use the network. This includes calls, texts, streaming, Internet browsing or using any other value-added services such as content, finance, healthcare, insurance, micro-loans and more. So every time someone uses their device to connect to the World Mobile network, the token's utility comes into play.

World Mobile Token is powered by the World Mobile Chain.

How are WMTx and World Mobile linked?

The World Mobile network is enabled by World Mobile nodes:

  • AetherNodes connect to existing legacy telecommunications networks.

  • EarthNodes are used to validate and secure the network.

  • AirNodes provide connectivity and Internet access to the end-user.

People or communities will be able to purchase an AirNode from World Mobile to connect their local communities to the Internet, or they can simply build their own.

World Mobile Token: Sharing Economy

World Mobile Token (WMTx) is the utility token that powers the World Mobile network.

AirNode and EarthNode Operators will earn WMTx rewards from the transaction fees paid by people using the network and as inflation rewards.

Transaction fees are paid to EarthNode Operators in WMTx. In turn, operators can then share these rewards with WMTx stakers who delegate their tokens to the EarthNodes.

Why connect the unconnected?

To bank the unbanked you must first connect the unconnected.

Africa has seen significant development since the turn of the century. The myth that all Africans are poor has been debunked many times. Most people in Africa have access to land, jobs and other instruments for creating prosperity.

While many on the continent still lack access to financial services, this has begun to change with the introduction of mobile banking. We believe that providing people with better connectivity results in their further integration into the ever-growing world economy. This is World Mobile's mission.

People throughout Africa are striving for a better future, yet at the same time, you are more likely to find a smartphone in an area without data connectivity in Africa than anywhere else on the planet. In our view, this human drive for a more prosperous future and the combination of access to data and connectivity will revolutionise the unconnected communities in Africa and around the world.

Currently, most people in Africa have access to either a basic phone or smartphone and mobile adoption is growing throughout the continent. However, connectivity lags significantly behind. Our vision is to meet this demand by bringing affordable connectivity to the unconnected.

UN Sustainable Development Goals

The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 SDGs which recognise that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality and spur economic growth. The mobile industry increased its contribution to all 17 SDGs in 2020, and we aim to continue building the World Mobile network to deliver on these goals.
